About This Place

New HK Tea & Sushi is a vibrant Hong Kong style fast food restaurant and tea house nestled in the heart of Brooklyn’s Bensonhurst neighborhood. This unique eatery artfully blends classic Hong Kong café staples with a fresh, inviting sushi bar experience. From the moment you step inside their cozy space at 2033 86th St, you’re embraced by an atmosphere that feels both authentically local and warmly familiar — a true gem for those craving comforting Asian flavors with a modern twist.

The menu is a delightful adventure through Hong Kong’s beloved fast food culture and Japanese sushi craftsmanship. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty bowl of Satay Beef Chow Fun (沙多牛河), perfectly stir-fried with tender beef and wide noodles, or craving the crispy indulgence of Shrimp Tempura Rolls, New HK Tea & Sushi promises big, satisfying portions that won’t break the bank. A standout favorite among patrons is their Condensed Milk Butter Toast — golden, buttery, and decadently sweet — a perfect companion to their rich, smooth Hong Kong-style milk tea.

For sushi lovers, the selection is both generous and fresh, ranging from simple Avocado Rolls and classic California Rolls loaded with crab, avocado, and cucumber, to more adventurous spicy offerings like the Spicy Ebi Roll. The Sushi Boat, featuring 24 assorted pieces, is a feast for both the eyes and palate, ideal for sharing or treating yourself to a sushi extravaganza. Complement your meal with comforting and savory baked dishes such as the Portuguese Baked Pork Chop Rice or the Cheese Baked Rice W, each delivering a melt-in-your-mouth richness and umami depth that lingers delightfully.

One cannot overlook the charm of their Hong Kong-style fast food fare — dishes like Fried Pork Intestines and the Stir Fried Ramen with Sausage and Egg showcase the bold, nostalgic flavors that local diners swear by. For those with a sweet tooth, the Fried Ice Cream provides a crispy, creamy contrast that perfectly rounds out the experience.

Customers rave about the consistently excellent food quality and generous portions. “The baked seafood rice blew me away with its bounty of fresh shrimp, fish, and squid,” shares Tae Young Kim, who has been a loyal local patron for years. Kevin Liu praises the Satay beef stir-fried instant noodles for their intense flavor and satisfying heft, while Karen H appreciates the affordability and variety, especially the baked rice and spaghetti dishes, though noting some hits and misses. The bustling dining room is a testament to its local popularity, with Veronica Leong noting a quick turnover despite the steady crowd, making it a go-to spot even on busy holidays.

While English might be limited, the staff’s warmth and effort to communicate make every visit welcoming and genuine. Isabel Marie Tusca sums it up perfectly: “Affordable eats with amazing food and service — the sushi here is truly S+ tier and brings me right back to Hong Kong.”

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Hong Kong’s café culture or discovering its unique delights for the first time, New HK Tea & Sushi caters to your cravings with authenticity, heartiness, and an inviting local vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere in Brooklyn.

HK Tea & Sushi, a Bay Parkway restaurant, uniquely blends a sushi bar and Hong Kong cafe. Portion is big and affordable. I like coming here for their baked rice/spaghetti. I ordered their french toast, portuguese porkchop rice, beef egg sandwich, and their HK milk tea.The French toast and beef egg sandwich were disappointing, with the French toast being bland and the beef sandwich was lacking a satisfying flavor combination. The Portuguese pork chop at HK Tea and Sushi was delicious due to its tender meat, flavorful seasoning, and crispy crust. It's enough to serve 2 people. I went during lunch time and inside was already packed. I also see that many people order takeouts. This is the only place that I know that actually makes delicious baked rice/ spaghetti and I'll be back here again just for it.

Decent neighborhood spot with classic HK options as well as sushi + Japanese menu items. This spot is always packed every time I go, but customer turnover is relatively quick. Came as a party of 6 on New Year's Day and waited only ~10 min for a table. Their sushi here is not bad. I ordered their 3 roll lunch special, which allows us to pick from ~15 different classic rolls. A lot of menu Set items come with miso soup, which is nice. The Beef Chow Fun was a bit oily, but still pretty good + had tender beef. The salmon in the HK Style Set was a bit dry, but the mild pepper sauce that came with it helped. We chose to have the set with spaghetti, which was a bit sweet, per HK style. Lastly, the Shrimp Tempura roll was solid and always a crowd favorite.

Great food at decent prices, a HK mainstay of Bensonhurst! I recommend the Satay beef stir-fried instant noodles! I also really enjoy the baked cheese dishes too as those are very savory but they're quite filling as well. I can usually get two meals out of a baked dish.

Ordered takeout using fantuan (great service btw) and got the baked seafood rice. Wow, oh wow. The food was delicious. Great amount of shrimp, fish and squid. The taste can't be beat. I typically see bad reviews coming, but I've been going here for years as a local. Great people inside. They speak cantonese, but also English! Baked Portuguese chicken and the baked seafood rice dishes are just terrific!

Affordable eats here. Amazing food and services. Even though they don’t really speak English, they try their best and the sushi here is S+ tier!! Brings me back to Hong Kong

Best Hong Kong style restaurant in Brooklyn. The wonton noodle soup is so delicious and with good price. The Hong Kong style Milk tea is the best, I always buy one to go when I am in the neighborhood.
